Erich Kadow Interpretation and Design Ltd

This is an exhibition which tells the story of  Yorkshire people during the First World War, both in service at the front line and on the home front. It is based on contemporary accounts of local people and the letters, documents, photographs and other objects they and their families donated to the museum.

Erich was commissioned with RS Heritage to design and develop this new commemorative exhibition in the former debtors’ prison at York Castle Museum. Concepts were developed with Heath Gwynn who produced the design layouts, drawing and sketches, and Sarah Doyle who designed and produced the exhibition graphics. Erich worked closely with the curatorial team at the York Museum Trust to understand the object collection and design the case layouts to reflect the chosen themes. The exhibition opened to the public on 28th June 2014 (notably the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria).
